Hello babes! (WE.ARE.STILL.ALIVE)

Just some updates:

1)We are planning to play touch at least once a week during the holidays and once per fortnight when school reopens. So please feel free to come down at the end of trainings for games or our organised friendlies with the juniors.

2)There will be a 'Volcano' session (so as Belle says.....) at Compasspoint on this coming Wednesday, 10th of June, 7pm at Swensens Compasspoint for the competitive squad. This is a treat from Miss Toh for the hardwork for M1/Nationals. Compulsory :D

3)There will be a touch camp on the 10th of July and 11th of July. While they train, we will study. We will be playing games with our juniors and seniors the next morning. Compulsory for the competitive squad, and optional for the recre team. However, I encourage all to come!

4)Those who did not do very well for the MYEs, don't feel discouraged. We will work harder during june. If you guys need any help, we can always organise a study group to study on Wed and Fri or even everyday since the timetable will be truncated. If there's anything in doubt related to your school work, feel free to get help from one another. We are ALL, going to the university. If you need help in Econs, GP or Math, you can always come to me. Although I'm not exactly the grade A student, but I will try my best and help anytime, and anywhere as long as I'm available.

5) Pheonixes, I'm very proud of you guys! You guys have moved on to a new team, but you guys will always be part of us! Do well for this year's promos and set high standards during training as role models of the team. I support you guys 13143344! No one is to look down on you guys :)

Dear all,

This is a message to share on the expectations of myself and how it will impact a game play.

Last year, at Turf City, we played against this college. Initially, we were leading by 2-0. Eventually, the score hit 3-3 and out of the 3 tries they scored, 2 of them was because the same person broke through me 2 times. It was like a 2v1 on the outside, I was the winger and I was completely outnumbered and the ball carrier faked me, with the link's unintentional blocking out of the call for drift.

Girls, I believe each and everyone of you got broken through at least once in your life. Or either you had witnessed a breakthrough past your support defence, right in your face. You know how terrible it feels right? What the hell! 2 tries, same girl, same situation and worst still I believe it was within 5 minutes. I believe you know how shitty and painful it feels ah.

From THAT day on, I promised myself to not let any attackers run past me. Don't even talk about chasing the breaker successfully, I wouldnt even want her to be anywhere behind me such that I have to turn my back and chase her. Of course, it's not surprising that Ido fail at times. But so far during competitions... Not yet. Because I'm seriously determined (anal) about this and I will do all I can to shut the man down.

Everytime when I go on defence, its the pain I saw in the 2 tries match that keeps me going even when I'm really tired. Even when I'm on the verge of subbing out, I do not back five with my back and I am always on my toes. Because the promise I made to myself just keeps (more like haunt actually) going. 'Shut my man down' just echoes through my head. Nothing but that.

Girls, I was very lucky that my mistake was made mid of last year, such that I will not commit my mistake again for the next one year. But for now, there is really no more time. We cannot make the 2 same mistakes like what we made today and try to correct it the next round. There is, unfortunately, really, no time.

Please keep talking. Especially on defence, we are still lacking communication on man marking and man counting. When dummy breaks through, defence shout I'm going for dummy so the rest will automatically mirror up. Sometimes, we all know what is mirror defence and you know you are supposed to do it. It's not that you forget when the dummy breaks through, its just that its hidden at the back of your head and you just refuse to mirror up for some reasons. If the dummy can call out, the rest will be reminded that chasing the dummy is not their task.

Talking saves us from a lot of trouble. Keep talking, okay?

Hi girls, those who have yet to check your email regarding the schedule. Please do so asap because it will give you a rough idea on how intensive this period will be.

Miss Toh asked us if we are going for M1. My stand is a yes. Although its one day after jc league, by then we would have much more exposure and the match the day before will warm us up for M1. Anyway, a jc league round is less than an hour. It's not like the typical touch events where it drags on and on from 8 to 3. Afterall, we are stepping down soon. Let this be the last M1. :)

Just to let you know, I am very proud of everybody's 1.6 timing yesterday. Actually, more like proud of the way you guys gave your all. The last person came in below 9. I dont know whether it's because you guys were so freaking scared of the punishment or what, but I have to tell you that this is the spirit I want to see in everyone. Many of you told me that you have never run this fast. Since NAPFA is around the corner, I want everybody to give their best shot for 2.4. If Izza_Ihaterunning91 was able to hit a potential A timing, all of you can! To me, this timing does not really matter. What really matters is, most of us have realised we can do much better than how we usually do. And I hope the vast improvement in this timing will fascinated you girls and show you that you can actually do more than you know. So let's keep this up okay?

HI ALL. Okay. It is unfortunate that my face is not in any of the two photos, as I was like the most dedicated photographer of all time. What is the point here? There is no point. Okay. THIS, is my real reason for appearing here again after ten years.

As you know! Common tests are around the corner. So look at photo 2, especially Janice's face.. I know its really tough, but hang on there, and you guys will be able to reach the top! So regardless whether you guys are training once a week, twice a week or thrice a week, please remember that your studies is still of your top priority now.

For the competitive squad, I'm really sad to announce that your first round of jc league is going to fall exactly one week before the common tests, and your second round is going to be smacked right in the centre (on shuxian and my birthday teeheeehee). That is going to affect some of us. Please don't complain. This is because if you guys have prepared well enough, that few hours lack of study time is not going to affect your grade significantly.

PLEASE STUDY HARD, AND TRAIN HARD. MICHELLE JAMIE AND I (AND I BELIEVE ALL OF YOU GUYS TOO) WOULD WANT TO SEE THE BEST FROM EVERYBODY DURING TRAINING. Ruck as hard as you can, break as fast as you can, and drag and watch closely as you can. You all know we are in this together, so don't ever, ever give up. Everyone makes mistakes.

WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER. (refers to first picture) i hope that at the end of the first round, we will all be looking as victorious as the first photograph above!

Oh yes, btw there is a SP tournament (like last yr's) smacked between our jc league. It's only for players with 15months of experience or less. Since you know Brigs & friends got champs last year. I will secretly devote my stamina into janice and let her play 20 minutes straight. So yep!

I just want to leave a note for you guys. I was really happy to see the spirit in today's training. It is apparent that most of you guys have improved, especially those in the competitive team. You guys will win some valuable experiences, glory, joy, medals back together soon okay! I hope all of you continue to work hard!

Although I'm quite sad over the fact that I can't play with you guys in the JC league this year, and that i injured my knee since 5mths ago, I am happy for you guys. For how far you all have come, it wasn't easy. I hope you guys play with confidence with other teams, other schools like how you guys did in today's training. I will go for my operation soon and come back and RULE THE WORLD. (kidding) I might just be a calefare coming down for training all the time, and I'm so lost with touch that I have no advices to give, no suggestions, no idea of any of the moves already BUT!! I will be back soon! :)

After the celebrations, while everyone was happily leaving the school campus, a team of hardworking/dedicated/loyal/committed/pretty/awesome/sexy/hot touch ruggers stayed back to train. Under the blazing hot sun. Being a bonded team, everyone encouraged everyone to keep going on, regardless of the weather and the tough exercise regime they were subjected to that day. Izza's burger idea is awesome but some people feedback that it was too plain. So some of us came together to improvise on her idea while we were bored. So the below picture is the improvised version. Hey girls! Sorry I took quite a while to get the t-shirt design done. Anyhoos, here's what I managed to come up with:

For the front of the t-shirt, it'll only be the burger and the mud shake. There's no extra white box behind it as shown in the picture, it's only there because the t-shirt template isn't purely white.

For the back of the t-shirt, in case the caption is too hard to decipher, it reads 'We can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only one second without rugby."

Okay I don't know whether anyone will see this in time but because tmr is most probably our final game together, we're gonna show them what we've got and win some chicken shit which is long overdue.
So we're gonna play our hearts out for the last time (quote bimbo) and give it our all. No regrets but instead knowing we did our best. No matter what happens, we will always be a team that has been through thick and thin together. We worked hard and long for this so YAY LET'S DO IT :D

Some things to note:
-stay behind ball carrier!
-no forward passes
-don't dump within five metre
-dummy half cannot score nor be touched
-never be caught offside
-ball handling
-communicate and talk like there's no tmr
-dummy half must always be there after a dump which is why talking is impt
-remember your moves! if all else fails, baba is still open for us to use!

Watch videos etc to gear yourself up for tmr's competition and visualise every single thing we've done during trainings and games. I believe that every one of us has a very special ability and skill that's why you're in the team, not just to make up the number, but to play your part and win glory together! SR DEFENCE :D

P.S. For the injured and erm, keeicapped -_- people, it doesn't matter that you can't play on the field with us, the thing that counts is your support, being alongside with us. Come what may, you're still in the team (:

This is a very important announcement from Sylvia Ho
She wants all the balls back to her by Monday 080908 by hook or by crook.
If you have the ball with you now, you also have to contact her immediately.
She is going to be stricter with this ball-borrowing thing 'cause some of you never inform her when you take the balls, as a result, you mess up her ball count. (TSK!)
So from now onwards, when you want to borrow a ball you've to sign in and out of her record book and the maximum lease period is 7 days. If you want to continue borrowing after 7 days, you are to renew your lease period.
Once the ball has no air, please return it to her asap for her to pump first and not leave it till the last minute where she has to pump like 5 balls at one go.
PLEASE COOPERATE WITH SYLVIA BECAUSE IT IS VERY STRESSFUL FOR HER!
By the way, if you lose the ball or she finds any ball lying around the school, you'll be banned forever and ever from borrowing a ball. Should any loss of balls be incurred at the end of the year, the whole team will bear full responsibility (regardless of whether you ever borrowed a ball or not.)
However, we do encourage you to borrow the balls to relieve stress and practise anything you want to since our team hasn't won any chicken shit hahaha.
Study hard for promos and don't ever give up alright! It's the last two weeks so give it your all and do well (: Good luck ruggers!

For Lit, remember to print out the exercise on SYMBOLS, SIMILES&METAPHORS, and SENSES&IMAGERY and submit on tuesday. This will constitute at least 10% for your CA.

For Geog, please remember to do your online quiz which has 40 questions which are to be done within 40 minutes. Please get ready your book by your side because it's not easy! Also, remember to do the survey on GO and HOM or Josephine Then will slaughter you.

For Maths, please download the three differentiation videos (featuring Tan Soi Ching and Bob Lau) and then attempt the Elearning assessment on it.

For Econs, you need to do the survey on GO and HOM instructed by Mr A.Y.W and do download the essay outlines for the questions which we have done for the remedial programme.

For GP, please go to www.storyofstuff.com, watch the 20min video and create a visually appealing and exciting mindmap on what you have learnt to help you remember the main ideas of the video. Mindmaps are to be summited on Tuesday.

According to Valerie, you guys have a group project on Chem where you guys need to watch some magical video for Chemistry and use Chem concepts to explain it.

HAPPY ADVANCED NATIONAL DAY!!!!

Hi girls!
I hope all of you had fun in the friendlies the other day, looking forward to other friendlies. Though we didn't really win the games, I hope you are not disheartened. Continue to work hard, train hard, play hard. But most importantly, I hope everyone would be more serious and watch one another's matches, instead of having your own conversation at the sides.

Saw some good effort from a few of you the other day, good job girls. continue yea! Also noticed that some of you feel very pressurised or have no confidence when you play therefore sometimes you wouldn't dare to call out for line or whatsoever. Don't be afraid. Don't be pressurised. Take is slow and easy, don't freak out and just chiong all the way, it wouldn't work either. You can come look for me if you feel too scared,I can be scared along with you. (SUCH NICE ENGLISH HUH!-.-) If you want you can clarify your doubts with clar or anyone of us and so you can improve from there. Don't keep quiet if you are blur, if not, you will never learn. :)

Hey guys! Please remember to visualise the moves for two nights before the friendlys. If you guys ever need any equipments from the cage to practise the fundamentals when you guys are free or have nothing better to do, please do approach me! Some of our lateral passes, switches and loops can still be improved so if your lessons end early before training, please do come down to do some passing first. Always remember, the awesome and cool moves can never work unless you guys start sprinting onto the ball, stay deep, drag your defenders, run hard into gaps, take positive touches, communicate, look out for any opportunities, and DIVE FOR THE TRY! All the best for your econs test, goodnight!

HELLO.
Some of us decided to train tmr after H2 maths test at around 630 for half an hour or so, for the friendly on wednesday. If you're interested, feel free to come down to the field then :D
If not, spend some time the night before our friendly, picturing scenarios on the field in a game situation, even a simple thing like catching the ball (very impt to those who have butterfingers).

PRESSURED BUT AIN'T CRUSHED

HEY THERE! I hope you girls had a good rest today. Even though we lost on Saturday's tournament and came in fourth, you girls made me proud, especially in the last and final match. I saw how Pat stayed strong, refusing to get subbed out and persevered to stay on in the game. I saw how hard Jamie was pressing to do the moves we learnt and thoughts of ways to score tries. I saw (and heard) Sylvia screaming her lungs out on the field to guide us. I saw Valerie grabbing opportunities to score tries. I saw how Wanling used all her might to touch the opponent near our try line and shouted a very deafening "TOUCH!" which shocked all of us. I saw how much Chermaine wanted to play even though her left hand was swollen. Michelle too, even though her both shin was injured, she played on and was angry when she couldn't play. I saw the hunger in PhinSiew to win. I saw Anna defending with her heart. I saw Sabrina putting in her 101%. And, I want to apologise for not being there on the pitch to fight the last match. I'm really sorry.

Don't lose heart girls. We learn from our mistakes and pick ourselves up when we fall. And all 29 of us in the SR touch rugby team, let's train hard and help one another to improve on our weaknesses all right! Remember: We may be pressured; but we ain't crushed!

HELLO TOUCH RUGGERS
So, tmr's training attire is the white training shirt.
Training will be light 'cause there are 20 people taking part in saturday's (050708) beach touch rugby tournament. Those who are not taking part are very very welcome to come down and support those who are :D Read one of the earlier entries for more details (:
Anyway, tmr will also be derelyn's last day with us. We have planned something for her farewell, so please bring $2 to help support our plan hahaha.

We're in the midst of our mid years but don't feel too stressed up alright! Like they say, failure is the only opportunity to begin again, this time, more wisely. So it's okay if you think you're gonna fail, just work harder for promos :D So don't give up and look forward to the bbq/barbie doll -_- at the end of the week (: Only 3/4 papers to go. Study hard girls!
